What to Expect at a Crystal Singing Bowl Consultation

As I started my business in the wake of the pandemic, you might be surprised that we offer in-person consultations. In 2020, I was working with a company selling crystal tones alchemy bowls. The courses we ran ground to a halt due to social distancing and restrictions on travel. It was this sudden shift that gave me the push to start my own singing bowl shop. I started researching suppliers who created singing bowls with the gorgeous sound I loved and I could sell at a more accessible price point. The rest, as they say, is history. 

Online discovery calls have and always will be an option for finding the right crystal singing bowls for you. I understand that not everyone can reach our showrooms for a consultation. That being said, I’m so proud of our showrooms and the service we provide there. As well as my showroom which has moved with me from London to Bristol and just recently to Stroud, Kalli heads up a showroom in Surrey and Kim in Hampshire.

Why we have showrooms where you can shop in person

Both our showroom consultations and online discovery calls are designed to help you explore different crystal singing bowls and find the ones that align with your unique frequency and needs. The showrooms offer a serene environment where you can engage with the singing bowl selection on a deep level. 

• Try the bowls - While we have an extensive sound library and I’m happy to send videos of singing bowl options, at the showroom you get to play the crystal singing bowls you are considering and feel how they resonate with you. You can also bring any bowls you already have to hear and feel how they play together, making it easier to curate a harmonious set. 

• Get to know the bowls - As they are handmade, each I Know This Girl bowl has a unique personality. I encourage you to think beyond the notes and focus on the intuitive connection you feel with the bowls. During our consultations, you can spend time with the bowls, establish a connection and feel confident in your decision. 

• Personalised guidance - Our showrooms are hosted by experts in crystal singing bowls. They play bowls in their professional and personal practice, have gone through the process of choosing a set themselves, and have a selection of I Know This Girl bowls specifically. They share so much valuable information during the 90-minute consultation tailored to your experience and knowledge level. You’ll leave knowing why you chose the bowls you did and how to make the most of them. 

What happens at a crystal singing bowl consultation

So you know what to expect and why a crystal singing bowl consultation at an I Know This Girl showroom is such a special experience, here’s what will happen, step-by-step.

• Book an appointment - All our showrooms are appointment-only. On the website, you can see the availability of our three locations, Stroud, Surrey and the New Forest, and book a time that works best for you. You’ll be sent the address and helpful information on how to find the showroom after booking. You’ll also be asked to fill out a quick booking form so our hosts can prepare for your visit. 

• Pay the fee - To secure your consultation, you’ll be asked to pay a £60 fee. This is because during the 90-minute appointment, our hosts dedicate their time to sharing expertise and providing personalised guidance. It’s important to me that they are compensated for all they give during the consultation. The £60 is deducted from the singing bowl purchase you make at the showroom. If you find a bowl (which 99% of people do during consultations), the consultation is essentially free. 

• Learn from the introduction - On the day, the whole consultation is tailored to your needs. We’ll ask you about your background and experience so we can give you all the information you need to make a confident decision. If you’re new to crystal singing bowls, we’ll start from the beginning, taking you through the different types of bowls and how to play them. If you have musical knowledge, we can explain the different notes and how to create sets using music-based language. 

• Explore your options - After asking you questions about what you’re looking for, what you’re drawn to and your budget, the host will pick out a selection of potential bowls for you to consider. This is your opportunity to play them yourself or have the host play them for you so you can focus on tapping into your intuition. When people are torn between which bowl/set to choose, at this stage I get them to lie down with their eyes closed and I play each option for them, not telling them which one I'm playing, so they can tune into how it makes them feel, rather than thinking about which note is playing.

• Leave with your bowls - Another great thing about showroom consultations is you can take home your chosen crystal singing bowls on the day. We’ll ensure they are packed securely like we would if shipping them so you don’t have to worry about how they will travel. We can show you accessories like carry cases too. We give tips on playing and looking after your bowls during the consultation.
