How to enhance your Crystal Singing Bowl collection

Updated: Apr 23

You might have a nice collection of singing bowls already, but are curious about what to add next?

Most clients I work with begin their Sound Healing journey with Crystal Singing Bowls in the 4th octave (4th octave = in the body).

The most popular sets I sell are the Chakra notes (B, A, G, F, E, D, C), however some clients choose to work with the sharps (A#, G#, F#, D#, C#) to create an endocrine set.

Once you’ve grown your collection to around four or more bowls for example, you might want to think about something different to add more depth, more variation of sound, or spice up your set!

Here are some options you may want to consider exploring:

tip 1 - Adding a 3rd Octave Singing Bowl

I love the deep grounding tones of 3rd octave bowls. They are my absolute favourite!

The deeper the tone, the more I feel the vibrations beneath my body.

3rd octave bowls work below the body. If you imagine the 4th octave bowls corresponding with your 7 main chakras and endocrine points directly on the body, 5th octave bowls work above the body and the 3rd octave bowls correspond with your chakras below your physical body.

For example, a 3rd octave 9-inch B (Crown Chakra) bowl will activate the crown chakra below the body and support with grounding, whereas a 6-inch B bowl would correspond with your crown chakra on the body and be accelerating and uplifting.

Working with two bowls of the same note but different octaves will also play beautifully together. For example, if you already own a 6-inch B (4th octave), adding a 9-inch B (3rd octave) would not only add more depth to your set but also play beautifully together with your 6-inch B Singing Bowl.

I often have quite a few 3rd octave bowls stock in various notes so get in touch to find out what’s available!

tip 2 - Adding a Practitioner Singing Bowl

If you run events or offer 1:1 sessions the Practitioners bowls are perfect for adding something extra special to your sessions!

The Quartz handle is really easy to hold onto; you can move around the space and hover the Practitioners bowl over and around your clients body’s. You can use the same techniques to play as your singing bowls.

When you move around the space it creates a really cool 360 surround-sound-effect and when moving or wafting the bowl over someone’s body, you really feel the vibrations tingling around your head, spine and feet!

They can also be played seated with your other singing bowls - I mix up between seated and moving around during my sessions.

Available in multiple notes, sizes and 4th and 3rd octaves (new stock arriving in August '23).

Tip 3 - Mixing the Chakra Singing Bowls with Endocrine Bowls

A little more advanced (and I’m happy to support with this), however mixing both chakra and endocrine (sharp #) notes create more variation and depth of emotions in my opinion.

You can easily add a new note to create a major or minor chord. Here are a few Singing Bowl notes that I often play together:

  • E, G#, B

  • D, F#, A

  • C#, E, G#

Tip 4 - Adding a Crystal Pyramid

The Quartz Crystal Singing Pyramids, like the practitioners bowls, add something extra to your sessions. The Crystal Pyramids aren't note-specific as they fluctuate between many frequencies so you pick depending on octave.

The larger the pyramid e.g 10-inch the lower the octave and deeper the tones. The smaller pyramids e.g 6-inch play a higher octave and therefore higher tones.

You can really feel the vibrations all the way down your spine, so the pyramids offer a sensory experience!

Tip 5 - Creating a Binaural Beat

Something cool and a bit trippy!

A binaural beat occurs when two tones of a similar frequency - ideally only around 10-15 Hz apart and no more than 30 Hz apart - are played at once.

A binaural beat is an auditory illusion where our brain only hears the difference then synchronises to that frequency.

For example, if you play two bowls together and one is 210 Hz and another is 220 Hz, our brains process the difference, in this case 10 Hz which would take us into our Alpha brainwave state. The Alpha brainwave state can aid with relaxation, meditation, positive thinking and a reduction in stress and anxiety.

If the difference between the two bowls was 8 Hz then this would take you to your theta brainwave state.

To find out how to create a binaural beat by adding a bowl to your current set, get in touch and I can support you.

Side note: For those with Alchemy Crystal Singing Bowls, it’s possible to pair my Quartz Crystal Singing Bowls with Crystal Tones bowls and match based on your notes and (-/+) cents.
